About
Professional Education and Training Office is one of the integral components of the hospital under the Medical Center Chief II, considered as a division level. Activities here included the upliftment of medical, paramedical and other hospital personnel thru provision of quality lifelong learning for better performance, competency and productivity in one’s work.
Vision: We envision Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital as the national training and research center of excellence in Women’s Health and Newborn Care.
Mission: We shall provide the highest level of knowledge, attitude and skills in Women’s Health and Newborn Care through continuous quality education and research for the enhancement of the hospital staff and trainees competency.
General Objective: Enhance the knowledge /skills / attitude of the hospital staff through continuing education on updated development and technology for quality medical care.
Functions
The PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING OFFICE (PETRO) oversees all of the learning and development programs and research activities of the hospital.
- PETRO is responsible for providing/coordinating learning and development opportunities for hospital employees. It collates and develops agency wide development programs. To accomplish this, PETRO:
- works closely with managers and supervisors and with the Human Resource Management (HRM) in monitoring learning and development needs identified in the Individual Development Plan(IDP) of employees;
- works with service heads and service/department training officers in identifying solutions/interventions to the identified needs;
- announces and encourages employees to undertake and make use of learning and development activities;
- prepares hospital orders for attendance to such activities on official time (or official business, if applicable);
- issues certificates of attendance or training, as the case may be; and
- analyses impact of learning and development for individuals and the organization.

BASIC EMERGENCY OBSTETRIC AND ESSENTIAL NEWBORN CARE (BEmONC) SKILLS TRAINING COURSE
This eleven-day training course is designed to enhance the skills of birth attendants (doctors, nurses and midwives) in assessing and managing conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and newborn care.
Target Participants – TEAM of registered doctors, nurses and midwives in rural health units or district hospitals that has been identified as facilities capable of providing BEmONC.
Training Fee – P10,700.00/ person for the eleven-day training (exclusive of foods and accommodation)

BASIC EMERGENCY OBSTETRIC AND ESSENTIAL NEWBORN CARE (BEmONC) FOR MIDWIVES
This is a seven-day training that shall strengthen the basic knowledge, skills and attitude of midwives in providing essential and emergency obstetric and neonatal care to improve maternal health and reduce neonatal mortality. It includes life saving skills and interventions of the Midwifery Act of 1992 and AO 14 s, 2011.
Target Participants – registered midwives in government or private practice with an updated PRC Professional Identification Card.
Training Fee – P8,700.00/person for the seven-day training (exclusive of foods and accommodation)

Target Participants - doctor, nurse, midwife or any professional interested in Lactation Management.
