Introduction
The Nursing Service is one of the major professional services which is delegated, through the Chief Nurse, the responsibility of organizing and administering the nursing services whose primary concern is to promote and restore health, prevent illness and alleviate human sufferings. Since the main objective of the Nursing Service is to provide excellent nursing care, it shall consider that such philosophy and goals are congruent with the service goals of the institutions that is to provide quality care for women and newborns.

As, such we shall take a lead role in the formation of nurses specializing in reproductive health at par with Global standard.

Historical Background
In the year 2001, the Nursing Service of the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital experienced a new perspective and a new direction from the traditional routine activities in the clinical setting. This introduced the service to a more challenging milieu. Innovations were introduced, critical thinking was rekindled, and nursing practices were challenged to evidence-based practice and researches. This amazing impact gives credit to one person who contributed so much for the service, the Chief Nurse.
Research Program
Realizing the significance of studies and evidence-based researches in advocating and providing optimal care to patients, the Nursing Service initiated its 1stResearch Forum last February 17, 2014, participated by 4 research entries. Many nurses tend to be hesitant In joining the research activity at the start, but later on build a culture that motivates others in joining the 2nd Research Forum which was conducted last July 10, 2015. There were 6 entries presented with one entry coming from the School of Midwifery.
Each nurses were empowered in dealing with different patients and situations using research as baseline information which becomes a vital practice as professional nurses involved in either direct patient care or on the administrative aspect of care giving.
