In the year 2001, the Nursing Service of the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital experienced a new perspective and a new direction from the traditional routine activities in the clinical setting. This introduced the service to a more challenging milieu. Innovations were introduced, critical thinking was rekindled, and nursing practices were challenged to evidence-based practice and researches. This amazing impact gives credit to one person who contributed so much for the service, the Chief Nurse.
Realizing the significance of studies and evidence-based researches in advocating and providing optimal care to patients, the Nursing Service initiated its 1stResearch Forum last February 17, 2014, participated by 4 research entries. Many nurses tend to be hesitant In joining the research activity at the start, but later on build a culture that motivates others in joining the 2nd Research Forum which was conducted last July 10, 2015. There were 6 entries presented with one entry coming from the School of Midwifery.
Each nurses were empowered in dealing with different patients and situations using research as baseline information which becomes a vital practice as professional nurses involved in either direct patient care or on the administrative aspect of care giving.
Nursing Service accomodates nursing staff from other hospital to benchmark with us in relation to quality health care to mothers and newborns.
